Monastrell de Vins del Comtat”, a new wine from the Alicante wine producer
18 Dec 2015 Monastrell de Vins del Comtat”, a new wine from the Alicante wine producer
Bodegas Vins del Comtat has presented a new wine made entirely from grapes of the Monastrell variety. It is the first 100% Monastrell red wine to be produced by this Concentaina winery. The grape variety is currently enjoying a boom in markets around the world.
“Monastrell de Vins del Comtat” is a 2014 vintage wine, aged for three months in 500-litre French oak casks.
The first objective when creating this wine was to honour the typical characteristics of the Alicante Monastrell, which is why it was decided not to blend it with other varieties.
The wine producer in Concentaina has created a very smooth, easy-to-drink wine, which is a perfect match with numerous dishes. “The Monastrell variety is capable of creating extremely fine wines, very fruity and smooth in the mouth. That is why we have carried out a very light extraction and aged the wine for a short period in French oak. The result is tasty and fruity but very smooth”, said David Carbonell, founder of Vins del Comtat.
The red wine from the producer is presented in an attractive, eye-catching bottle whose design was inspired by the traditional hydraulic tiles typically found in farmhouses in the Alicante mountains.
This new wine is priced at approximately €8, and is only available from restaurants and specialist retailers or from the web page www.vinesdelcomtat.com.
