Parker consolidates Alicante wines

A new article from the “Wine Advocate” guide – popularly known from the Parker list – has been published with a list of wineries and wineries that consolidate in Alicante as the reference area.

The best points were validated by Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola with 96 points for “Fierroca 24” which followed “El Veneno 2024” and “Giró de Abargues 2024”, both with 95 points.

Two novels from El Sequé, with year 23, incorporate with strength this year, “Las Morachuelas” and “El Hondonico” with 95+ and 94 points respectively.

From Villena stands Casa Balaguer and on “Viña Guerán 2023” with 94 points, or “El Carro de la Mata 2024” with 93+ points, the only wine with guarantees from the Parque Natural de La Mata and Torrevieja.

The Collection of Toneles centenarios añade 93+ with “lo de Pepitín 2024”, “Velo de Flor Las Blancas Tradicionales 2023” with 93 points and “Las Blancas Tradicionales 2025” with 92 points. One of the wines found in Fondillones “Luis XIV” was awarded with 96 points.

Also from the Marina Alta, Oscar Mestre achieved 92 points with “Insurrecte 2024” and Giró 2023” with 91 points.

The article states that “the Mediterranean is one of the most exciting areas of Spain” and talks about a change based on the recovery of “the pride of its history, towns, lands and grapes” in forgotten territories that have been forgotten for a long time or badly.

The president of the CRDOP Alicante Jose Juan Reus, welcomes these publications that have true value. “Although this guide has a very particular focus on a few shops, it is useful to ensure that others are aware of the changes and passion for enjoying the wine of the area in the next few years”.
