The DOP Alicante will once again be present at Barcelona Wine Week (BWW), the first major wine event to be held from February 6 to 8 at the Montjuïc fairgrounds, where a large representation of wineries will present their wines in Hall 8 stand 600.
Almost a dozen wineries will make up the Alicante area (BWW LANDS): Bocopa, Santa Catalina del Mañan, Winexfood, Las Virtudes, Bodegas Xaló, Bodegas Pinoso, Bodegas Teulada, Finca Collado, Toneles Centenarios, Les Freses, Bodegas Volver and MG Wines . On the other hand, wineries such as Gandía Plá, Mendoza, Casa Agrícola or Bodegas Riko will go with distributors. As a whole, this year it will be one of the most well represented areas by regions and types of wines .
In addition, the DOP Alicante has programmed an exclusive tasting within the program of activities organized by the fair under the theme “Spain, singular mosaic of soils”. Alicante will present “Poor soils, rich wines” on Monday 2/6/2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Hub area of the pavilion with the presence of the first Spanish Master of Wine, Pedro Ballesteros, who will discuss the delicate situation of these unique vineyards.
With one of the highest percentages of organic cultivation in Spain, some 10,200 hectares of vineyards, the area of small and family wineries are beginning to stand out in the world of wines. In addition, research carried out has shown the DOP Alicante to be the oldest in Europe since 1510.
