We want to share some great news with you. The Alicante Protected Designation of Origin was chosen as one of the finalists for the Public Prize for the most highly regarded PDO by wine enthusiasts and professionals, according to the Peñin Guide to Spanish Wines.
This is a new category promoted by the Peñín Guide to mark its 25th anniversary and on the occasion of the “Salón de los Grandes Vinos de España” (Top Wines of Spain show) due to be held on Thursday 16 October in Las Ventas Bullring in Madrid. Prizes will be presented by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Isabel Garcia Tejerina.
For the President of the Alicante CRPDO, Antonio M. Navarro, “this award is a complete surprise, especially coming from the community”, but it is undoubtedly “recognition for all the work done by wineries and professionals, who for years have been trying to attract people’s attention to the character and originality of our Alicante wines”. He wishes to express his sincere thanks to all users who voted for us on the Group’s web site.
