Vinessens expands its catalogue with La Casica del Abuelo

Bodega Vinessens, a small “garage winery” in Villena run by wine experts Marta Ribera and Andrés Carrull, has launched its new wine under the name of La Casica del Abuelo, honouring the history of the farmhouse on its Puerto de la Harina Nº8 estate, built in 1932.

La Casica del Abuelo is a wine produced from Monastrell (70%), Syrah (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) grape varieties, hand-picked and meticulously selected back at the winery. Pre-fermentation maceration is carried out with skins and seeds at low temperature for 17 days, followed by malolactic fermentation and 4 months of ageing in new French oak casks.

Vinessens is a family winery that tries to give its clients something more than a good quality wine. They were the first to use a series of production systems in the local area. The “garage winery” concept has enabled them to adapt particular production methods to each variety and each type of wine. Like microvinification, in which fermentation and maceration is done in 500 litre casks, using artisan processes and with the aim of respecting the unique properties of individual local varieties.

Tasting and pairing notes

Deep Picota cherry red with violet rim. Aromas of red and black berries like plums and blackberries with hints of balsamic and aromatic herbs like rosemary, thyme, etc. Pleasant entry on the palate, fresh and fruity, with a mature, delicate tannin and well-balanced acidity.
Ideally served at a temperature of 15 to 16 ºC. Perfect for pairing with white meat, starters, foie gras, pastry turnovers, lamb chops, boletus wild mushrooms, appetizers, rice, free-range poultry, tapas and bar snacks.

A fantastic Mediterranean wine, pleasant and very drinkable!
